Improving certain parts of your game sometimes is important to get each down very well. Some maps favor certain styles better than others.
Macro - This is one of the most important Aspects of the game for your timing attack and overall to have a strong mid // late game. Macro is to be capable of producing workers non-stop till get up high in psi and to know when you expo in timely manner. Macro is all about producing right amount of gates to keep minerals spent and keep no more than 2 units que in it..if your able to do more add more gates. You should never have over 2 units que in a gate. Just make sure to keep units pumping keep eye on minimap for when units finish and build them again i always like try get 2 que...that way once only 1 i can go back through macro through them again.
Best ways to practice macro? Well you want to play macro heavy maps. The biggest macro heavy map is Blue Storm. Blue Storm is heavy macro there isn't much areas you have to focus on...main battle is always in the middle most the time. This is the best map to Practice Macro on. So if you want to improve your macro i recommend playing Blue Storm.
Multi Tasking - You want to practice on multi-tasking? You want a big map that makes long games usually macro game also. Multi-tasking is the ability to jungle many task at one time..move your units macro all buildings and scouting or harassing. Multi-tasking is possibly one of the hardest aspects to develope. Multi-tasking is also referred to as mechanics. Multi-tasking allows you to keep up with what your opponent is doing while never missing a beat. You manage to keep positioning to where he can't catch you off gaurd of know where you might hit from. Best Map for this is Andromeda. Andromeda is a big map and a macro map. This map mid // late game will help you learn to multi-task. Usually someone with the better multi-task late game will win. It's macro heavy map.
Build Orders - Build Orders is very important aspect in the game. It determines how you should play starting off and execute. You also either control the map or become defensive with your build order your build order also determines what kind of game you want to play against your opponent..early timing hit..safe timing hit..or long macro game. Build orders is probably the first thing someone should learn very well. You must know the build orders so well you can close your eyes know exactly how to do it in your head. Best way to learn Build orders is looking at your PSI count...Most build orders should be learned up to around 40 psi or possibly 50. After that usually your build will normally get altered or adapted to your opponent. Best map to practice build orders Map your most familiar with. Your build order might change depending on the map so pick a common map like python i would recommend.
Micro - Micro is the ability to react and knowing your units very well. Micro requires practice and trying use your units to the best of it's ability taking the least amount of damage. Micro is very important aspect sometimes early game. You will see micro the most when someone has countered your build order. To work on micro use a small 1vs1 map. Maps like Korhal or island maps. These force you to have to control your units better than your normally will. Micro trainers also help but you need focus on trying do it while having to do other things.
Decision Making - This is important mostly Late game it becomes a really big issue. One who makes the better decisions usually ends up winning logical wise. Of course you need to macro also lack of it can cause your good decisions to be a waste. Decision making can be knowing where and how to counter something late.. Knowing where to attack and where to attack from. To work on things like this you want a big map that is macro heavy. Maps like Andromeda is a good one or Wuthering Heights. Island maps also very good for this you have to know where to drop and make right decisions where to attack.
Quick Reference on what maps to practice these on.
Macro - Blue Storm, Othello, and Andromeda. Blue Storm is the best due focus of battle being only in the middle.
Multi-Tasking - Andromeda is very good map for this. It's a big map late game takes a lot of multi task to keep up with your opponent and where he is moving to and going to attack.
Build Orders- Map you play a lot. Python probably
Micro - Small maps and Island maps. Korhal, Gorky Park, Troy, and blood bath.
Decision Making - Andromeda, Island maps, Othello. Anything strategic in where place expos and where to attack. This mostly comes in late game...so force a macro game vs your opponent or ask him to take the game into late game. This best way work on multi-task, macroing units, and decision making.
